5 things to know about the BMW 3 Series

5 things to know about the BMW 3 Series

BMW’s executive car continues to be one of the best in its class.

For drivers who need a great combination of value, brand appeal, space and mile-munching abilities, the BMW 3 Series has consistently been the go-to model.

That’s especially true of the latest model, which is great to drive and handsome, too. If you’re in the market for an executive car, here are five things to know about the BMW 3 Series.

Saloon and estate

If you’re looking at the BMW 3 Series saloon and thinking you could do with a little more space, the estate – or Touring, as it’s known – has you covered.

The latest model has been given updates to make it more stylish than ever, while the split-tailgate continues to be an incredibly useful addition.

Nice cabins

One of the areas BMW excels is in the cabin. Its designs aren’t too futuristic but they’re simple and feel of the highest quality.

The screen on the dashboard is high-definition and easy to use, while everything feels perfectly positioned for the driver.

Plug-in hybrid options

The 3 Series is hugely popular with fleet buyers, so it’s no surprise to see it’s leading the way for BMW’s electrification. A variety of plug-in hybrid options are available, and result in a really low benefit-in-kind rate for company car drivers.

They’re also incredibly efficient if you keep the batteries topped up, keeping running costs low.

Plenty of engine options

When it comes to engines, whatever your needs, BMW has something for you. As well as the hybrid options there are many petrol and diesel choices, too.

These range from low-output, economy-focused engines with around 150bhp, all the way up to M Sport models with around 370bhp.

High-performance M3

The ultimate version of the 3 Series is the M3. This high-performance saloon has earned a reputation as one of the best in the business, and the latest version takes this to the next level.

It has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine that makes more than 500bhp and is now available with a choice of rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.
