Things You Ought to Know about the Audi Q5

They’ve kept things simple with the range of petrol and diesel engines available on the Q5 - there are just two. You’ve got a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the Q5 45 TFSI or a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel in the Q5 40 TDI.

Both engines are punchy yet refined and are a great fit for the Q5. Both are linked to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, too.

Audi has already introduced Sportback versions of many other cars in its range, so it was only logical to introduce one to the Q5 line-up too. It brings a sweeping roofline which tapers into a sharp rear end.

For those after a slightly more imposing-looking model, the Q5 Sportback is bound to appeal.

In addition to those conventional petrol and diesel powertrains, we also have a performance model - the SQ5 - alongside a plug-in hybrid TFSI e model. The former uses a punchy 3.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 336bhp and a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox.

The latter, meanwhile, uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine linked to an electric motor and batteries for lower fuel use and improved running costs.

You’ve got a wide variety of trim levels to choose from with the Q5 and all get plenty of standard equipment. Even base-spec Sport models boast 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and a high-gloss exterior styling pack.

Top-rung Vorsprung models boast high-end features such as 21-inch alloy wheels and Audi’s powerful Matrix LED headlights.

Step inside the cabin of the Q5 and you’ll be met by plenty of high-end touches. There’s a large central screen - now 10.1-inches on all cars - as well as full Virtual Cockpit system replacing the conventional dials.

For the first time, Amazon’s Alexa system has also been integrated into the Q5, allowing you to use voice controls for the navigation and media, or even control a smart device at your home while on the move.
